As a Bay Area wedding photographer, more specifically an East Bay wedding photographer, I have had the privilege of visiting many wedding venues in Livermore, CA. Each venue is unique, and each one offers something special for your wedding day. My goal is to provide you with information that I’ve learned as a sort of “insider” at some of these venues, and give you some suggestions for other venues that I’ve seen even if I haven’t yet shot a wedding there.

If you’re on the hunt for a wedding venue in Livermore, you may also be looking for a Livermore wedding photographer! This isn’t a page where I’ll plug my services except for a link at the very bottom – I just hope my thoughts on these beautiful venues are helpful in your wedding planning journey, and enjoy some photos along the way. 🙂
Ravenswood is one of the best budget wedding venues in Livermore that I have photographed at since I started shooting weddings. I love that it’s outdoors, and it’s got a sort of low-key and easygoing vibe to the site. Really great for a warm spring or summer wedding day.
Weddings at Ravenswood Historic Site are likely going to be more suited to a DIY style. It is the perfect venue if you want a very relaxed celebration on your wedding day! It’s great for a couple who cares more about the meaning of the day (because yay, you’re getting married!!) and visiting with close friends and family during the reception.
The thing I love most about Ravenswood: the tree-lined walkway. You can’t hold a wedding at Ravenswood without having those sunset photos under the trees. I have seen people hold ceremonies in this walkway as well, which is definitely a great choice for a summer day.
There are SO many spots for portraits, from the tree walkway to the ruins in the back of the property to the vineyards and tree groves out front.
One thing to keep in mind with Ravenswood in particular is the position of the sun at the time of your ceremony. As a photographer, I care very much where the light comes from. Make sure you consider this when choosing the gazebo, or when deciding which way to face (each other or the pastor) during the ceremony. Your photographer should be able to walk you through this and help you decide what will look the best.

I have done one wedding at Poppy Ridge Golf Course, and it was a beautiful day! Poppy Ridge is a great option if you have a smaller ceremony planned. The ceremony site looks over the rolling hills of the golf course with a really neat view for your guests. After the ceremony, cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres are served on the north terrace. Super pretty place for your family and friends to mingle while you go take the “Just Married” photos!
The reception is held inside their banquet hall, which is a nice neutral room that you can decorate however you want.
