Let me start off by saying that this isn’t my normal kind of photography session…I don’t usually do newborn hospital shoots! But Katie is one of my favorite people in the world, and I was not going to miss the opportunity to meet my new favorite baby (as of last August) when he was a few hours old! I woke up at 3am the night after Katie was induced, and I could NOT fall back asleep because I was so excited…so of course I texted Katie to see how things were going, and YAY he had been born! Later that day I drove up to Davis to meet him, to congratulate my friends, and to take photos documenting the first time their families came to see him.
It was probably one of the most special photography sessions I’ve done so far and such an honor to be able to witness all of the grandparents (and great-grandma, uncle, and aunt!) meeting Mason for the first time. I loved seeing their reactions from behind my camera, and watching their emotions. It has been so cool to see Katie and Peter in their new roles as mom and dad. Mason is the cutest baby – he has Katie’s eyes and Peter’s nose and will probably grow up talking a LOT, with great conversationalist skills on top of it all.
Our time together as friends may look different now, but being Auntie Ambs is so fun. And to Katie: you’re the only one that can get away with pinning that title on me. 😉
The Photos
Of course I had to have a photo with Mason as well. 😉 Thanks for the pictures, Peter!
